The Queen called Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern last week to “check in” on New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Queen \u2018literally just wanted to check in\u2019, says Jacinda Ardern.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ardern described the phone call as “fantastic”, adding it was an acknowledgment of the connection the Queen felt to New Zealand.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“She literally just wanted to check in, to hear how everyone was and to send her best wishes.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In a social media post by Ardern, she said that it was “such a busy week last week that I didn\u2019t get a chance to pass on a very special message!”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“Her Majesty the Queen was kind enough to check in to see how New Zealanders have been doing as we finish off the year, and to wish everyone a wonderful break,” Ardern said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“She shared a few memories from her time here during the holiday season, it was really lovely.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Queen also called Ardern on April 29, with the Prime Minister saying she wanted to “see how everyone in New Zealand was getting on”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
